Manitoba invites international student graduates and skilled workers in latest selection round

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has conducted two new draws on July 10, issuing a total of 67 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) for provincial nomination. These draws targeted candidates through the International Education Stream (IES) and the Skilled Worker Stream (SWS). Preference was given to applicants who had completed their education within Manitoba and to foreign workers with skills that meet the province’s current labor market needs. This initiative aims to support Manitoba’s economic growth by prioritizing candidates most likely to integrate successfully into the local workforce.

The province invited international student graduates from Manitoba institutions through its Graduate Internship Pathway (GIP). Candidates received a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) if they declared meeting all GIP eligibility requirements, which include completing a master’s or doctoral degree program in Manitoba within the past three years, successfully finishing a Mitacs or Accelerate internship with an eligible industry or research organization in the province, and achieving a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7. Additionally, GIP candidates are required to reside in Manitoba at the time of application and must submit a Career Employment Plan demonstrating their potential for professional growth and long-term contribution to Manitoba’s workforce.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 27 candidates through the Skilled Worker Stream (SWS), under either the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway or the Skilled Worker Overseas pathway. These candidates had indicated in their profiles that they were invited by Manitoba through a strategic recruitment initiative. These initiatives are designed to help Manitoba employers address labor shortages by recruiting skilled foreign talent. To participate, employers must meet specific eligibility requirements for their open positions and complete Manitoba’s ABC Recruitment Process before submitting candidate details to the province’s Employer Services. Candidates, in turn, must meet key eligibility criteria such as language proficiency, relevant work experience, educational background, and age, along with any stream-specific conditions. However, candidates with stronger ties to other Canadian provinces or territories, such as through prior work or study, may be seen as retention risks and could be refused by Employer Services or the MPNP.
